With sadness, we announce Alice passed away unexpectedly at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC surrounded by love from her daughter and family and exceptional nurse Alex, who went above and beyond.
Alice was born August 12, 1934 in Enschede, Holland, Netherlands. In 1953 Alice moved to Canada to join the love of her life, William “Bill” van Beest in their Canadian adventures.
In 1960 Alice and Bill moved to a beautiful home in Blind Bay, BC to raise their daughter Diana. During that time, Alice worked for Shuswap Bakery and was also a matron at the Salmon Arm RCMP detachment for female inmates. When Alice and Bill retired, they started taking trips down south to Blythe, California to soak in the sunshine in the winter months. After Bill passed away in 1998, Alice moved into Salmon Arm to a home with a beautiful view of Shuswap Lake.
Alice was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and friend. Her quiet courage, strong spirit and creativity will be carried forward through everyone that was blessed to know her.
Alice is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Bill van Beest 1998 and survived by her daughter, Diana(Gord) Mackintosh, Salmon Arm, BC, two grandchildren, Michele(Orin) of Kamloops, BC, Ryan(Stephanie) and one beautiful great grandchild Olivia, Salmon Arm, BC.
She was extremely proud to become a great grandmother.
