May 20, 1940 – September 3, 2019
Born Mary Mavourneen Broderick to Paul and Bernice Broderick. Her father died when she was 9.5 years old. She attended St. Joseph’s Teacher’s College In Montreal. Married David Young and had one son Paul. David died two months before their second child Eileen Young was born.
Mavourneen taught Grade one for a number of years before she married Ron Reddecliff in Montreal in 1975, then moved to Oakville, Ont. In 1977 their son, Michael was born. Shortly following Ron’s retirement, they moved to Salmon Arm, B. C. in 2000.
She taught Religion classes (mostly 1st Communion) for 15 years in Oakville and Salmon Arm. She was active in C.W.L. and KAIROS for many years and was a passionate social activist directed at ensuring the rights of others were respected in governmental legislations.
She loved to dance, listen to music and in her younger years played the piano. She took great pride in her home and spent hours painting and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Mavourneen enjoyed watching the birds visit her garden and the adjacent bird sanctuary and had a great love for animals.
She endured much adversity in her life but always faced it with great courage. She always cared about her appearance and was a very feisty, fun-loving little gal!
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Mavourneen is survived by her loving husband, daughter Eileen Young, sons Paul Young and Michael Reddecliff (Raina), grandchildren Vienna, Aria and Rowen, and numerous close family members.
